Watercolour Painting Courses
Art Classes That Grow With You.
Watercolour Painting Pathway – From First Wash to Artistic Mastery
Our Watercolour Painting Pathway is designed to take you from your very first washes through to creating refined, exhibition-ready artworks. Starting with techniques introduced in our Art Fundamentals: Line, Tone & Colour course, you’ll explore the unique beauty of watercolour across three progressive levels – each building your skills, confidence, and creative style.
Level 1 – Watercolour Foundations (Beginner)
Building on the basics from the Art Fundamentals course, Level 1 covers essential watercolour tools, washes, colour mixing, and simple layering. You’ll learn wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques, practice brush control, and complete small studies in still life, landscape, or floral subjects.
Level 2 – Watercolour Development (Intermediate)
Level 2 focuses on more complex compositions, refined layering, and controlled washes. You’ll develop your own colour palette, explore texture effects, and work on themed projects such as botanical studies, atmospheric landscapes, or architectural scenes.
Level 3 – Watercolour Mastery (Advanced)
At this stage, you’ll tackle ambitious projects that showcase your technical skill and creative voice. Explore advanced light and shadow effects, create multi-layered compositions, and work towards a final statement piece ready for portfolio or exhibition display.
Progression & Certificates
Each level includes personalised tutor feedback and a professionally designed certificate. Many students complete all three levels, building a body of work that reflects their growth as a watercolour artist.
