About this course
Start the new year with a creative skill and turn your ideas into artwork to frame, share or give as gifts. With step-by-step guidance you’ll learn to develop a design, transfer it onto lino and use carving tools safely to create bold shapes, expressive lines and texture, then apply ink evenly, print by hand and experiment with colour as your designs come to life on paper.
You’ll begin with a simple single-colour print before exploring reduction printing – carving and printing the same block in stages to build a layered, multicoloured image – learning how to plan your colours and line up each layer to create a small edition of your own.
Take inspiration from plants, animals, everyday objects or abstract patterns. There’s no need for previous printmaking experience or confident drawing skills: simple ideas can make striking prints, and guidance is available throughout.
