1. Purpose
The Art School, Chester is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment where creativity can flourish. This Behaviour Policy outlines the standards we expect from all students and visitors, ensuring a positive experience for everyone.

3. Code of Conduct
All students, whether children, teens, or adults, are expected to:

Listen to and follow tutor instructions

Treat fellow students, tutors, and staff with respect

Use materials and equipment safely and appropriately

Keep shared areas tidy and free from obstruction

Participate positively and support a creative atmosphere
For younger students, parents/guardians are expected to:

Ensure children arrive on time and are collected promptly

Inform staff of any medical or behavioural needs in advance

Reinforce expectations at home
4. Unacceptable Behaviour
The following behaviours will not be tolerated:

Bullying, teasing, or intimidation of any kind

Deliberate misuse or damage of materials or equipment

Disruption of the class or refusal to participate

Aggressive, violent, or unsafe actions

Use of inappropriate or offensive language
5. Managing Behaviour
Tutors will use positive reinforcement and calm redirection to manage minor issues. Where needed, we will follow a clear stepped approach:

Reminder – Quiet verbal reminder of expectations

Warning – Clear explanation of what must change
-
Reflection – Short time-out or removal from the activity
-
Parental Contact – If behaviour continues or escalates
-
Removal – For persistent or serious breaches, we may ask the student to leave the class or course. No refunds will be issued.
For adult learners, any disruptive or inappropriate conduct may result in being asked to leave the session.
6. Safeguarding & Additional Needs
We recognise that some behavioural challenges may stem from underlying needs. We aim to work collaboratively with parents, carers, and learners to create a supportive plan, where appropriate. Please share any relevant information with us at the time of booking.
